Will SmartSlydr Work with a Heavy Sliding Door?
SmartSlydr is designed to work with sliding doors that move smoothly, regardless of their weight. The key factor is how easily your door slides. If you can open your door with one hand, SmartSlydr should work seamlessly for you.
SmartSlydr includes a quick cleaning and lubrication kit to help ensure smooth operation. Many heavy doors simply need a bit of cleaning and lubrication for optimal performance.
For reference, SmartSlydr can handle doors with up to 18 lbs of drag force, while most well-maintained doors with clean tracks typically require only 5–10 lbs of force. For more information, check out our YouTube video.

What Is the Noise Level Difference Between SmartSlydr and SmartSlydr Regal?
The standard SmartSlydr operates at approximately 55±3 dB from a 1-meter distance, while the SmartSlydr Regal features a quieter motor that runs at 48±3 dB. The actual noise level you experience may vary based on factors such as door condition, room size, and ceiling height.
Does SmartSlydr Work if I Have Blinds Installed on My Sliding Door or Window?
Yes, SmartSlydr can work with most types of blinds, provided there is sufficient clearance. The SmartSlydr unit itself has a width of 2 inches, but we recommend a 5 inch clearance between the door frame and the blinds for proper installation. If additional space is needed, extender brackets are available to move the blinds outward, allowing SmartSlydr to be installed properly. For detailed instructions, please refer to our installation guide.
How Do I Choose Between Small, Medium, and Large?
Size refers to your door, not your dog — all three sizes work for any size pet, since the opening width is adjustable.
Each size is a different unit length that mounts along the top of your door, and each delivers a different maximum opening:
Measure your door and compare against our Size Chart — it shows exactly where to measure. If your door falls between sizes or you'd rather have us check, email photos of your door with your measurements to communication@lycheethings.com and we'll confirm the right size before you order.

How Do I Know If I Need Left Closing or Right Closing?
Stand inside your home, facing the door. With the door closed, look at which side the moving panel is on — that's your closing side.
• Moving panel on the left → choose Left Closing
• Moving panel on the right → choose Right Closing
Quick double-check: the handle. The handle sits on the moving panel's outer edge, the one that meets the frame when the door shuts — so it will be on the same side. Handle on the left means Left Closing, handle on the right means Right Closing. If the panel and the handle both point the same way, you have your answer.
Our Size Chart shows both configurations side by side — compare the diagrams against your door to confirm before you order.
Still unsure? Take a photo from inside showing the full door and send it to communication@lycheethings.com. We'll confirm in a few minutes — worth doing, since the wrong direction won't fit your door.

I Have Molding or Decorative Trim Around My Door – Will SmartSlydr Still Work?
In most cases, yes. SmartSlydr mounts with two brackets and needs a flat, consistent surface to sit against — flat trim is usually no problem. Curved or angled molding may need a shim or spacer so the unit sits level.
Trim profiles vary widely, so send a photo of your door frame including the trim to communication@lycheethings.com and we'll tell you whether anything extra is needed before you order.

How Do I Know If I Have an Inside or Outside Moving Panel?
Stand inside your home, facing the door. Sliding doors run on two tracks, one nearer to you and one further away. Look at which track your moving panel sits on:
• Moving panel on the nearer track, closest to the inside of your home → inside moving panel
• Moving panel on the further track, closest to the outside → outside moving panel
A quick way to tell: as the door opens, does the moving panel slide in front of the fixed panel (toward you) or behind it (away from you)? In front means inside; behind means outside.
Our Size Chart shows both configurations in a diagram — compare yours against the pictures to confirm.
Which model you need:
• Inside moving panel — Both the standard SmartSlydr and SmartSlydr Regal work, so choose based on whether you want Regal's quieter motor and custom sizing.
• Outside moving panel — SmartSlydr Regal only. It includes the custom adapter required for this configuration.

Which Side Will the Power Supply Be Placed?
The power supply will always be placed on the opposite side of the moving panel. The power adapter cable is 8 feet long, and if you need additional length, you can order a DC extension cord.
Example: If the moving panel is on the left, the power supply would be positioned on the right side, and vice versa.

Can I Mount SmartSlydr at the Bottom of the Door?
For sliding doors: top mount only. Sliding doors are top mount only — a bottom-mounted unit would sit in the threshold you walk through and create a tripping hazard.
For windows: top or bottom. Sliding windows can be fitted either way, depending on which gives better clearance.
Not sure which applies to your setup? Email photos to communication@lycheethings.com and we'll advise.

How Does SmartSlydr Get Power? Do I Need an Electrician?
No electrician and no wiring work. SmartSlydr plugs into a standard household outlet using the included power supply.
• Input: 110–240V AC (standard wall outlet)
• Output: 24V DC, 1.5A
• Cord length: 8 feet
• Placement: Where the power supply sits depends on which track your moving panel runs on.
o Inside moving panel (standard SmartSlydr): the power supply sits on the side opposite the moving panel. Moving panel on the left → power on the right, and vice versa.
o Outside moving panel (SmartSlydr Regal): it's reversed — the power supply sits on the same side as the moving panel.

Operation & Smart Features
What's the Difference Between Send Request Mode and Automatic Mode?
PetPass offers two modes for controlling the SmartSlydr door: Automatic Mode and Send Request Mode. You can only use one mode at a time, and both are customizable via the mobile app.
Automatic Mode: This mode enables automatic opening and closing based on your pet's proximity to the door. When your pet is near, the door will open automatically and you will get a notification.
Send Request Mode: In this mode, when your pet approaches the door, you will receive a smartphone notification to approve or deny the door opening. This gives you more control over when the door opens.
Both modes are designed to offer flexibility, depending on your preferences for convenience or control.

Is the "PetPass" the Same as the "OneButton" Wireless Remote?
Yes, the PetPass and OneButton are the same hardware, but you can configure them to function in either PetPass mode or OneButton mode—only one mode can be active at a time.
PetPass mode: For pets, enables automatic opening of the SmartSlydr door when your pet approaches, perfect for hands-free access for your dog.
OneButton mode: Works as a remote control, similar to a keychain, designed for human use. It can be attached to a walker, wheelchair, or carried for easy access to open or close the door.

How Can I Operate SmartSlydr Manually?
SmartSlydr includes a convenient pull cord feature that allows you to detach the device from the window panel for manual operation. This feature works similarly to a garage door opener, making it especially useful in emergency situations or when manual operation is needed.
Once manual operation is complete, the SmartSlydr head will automatically reattach to the door. If you prefer to prevent the automatic reattachment, you can use the pull cord fork to securely hold it in place.

Can I Schedule SmartSlydr to Automatically Open or Close?

How Long Does SmartSlydr Take to Open the Window/Door?
In normal mode, SmartSlydr moves the window/door at a speed of approximately 45 mm per second. The total time to open the window or door depends on the amount of opening you've selected (ranging from 1% to 100%) — the larger the opening, the longer it will take to fully open.
How Do I Open the Door/Window Partially?
With the smartphone app or voice commands, you can open the door or window to any width between 1% to 100% (in increments of 1% so you can fine-tune it to your needs). For example, with a voice command, you can say "Set the door to 20%."
Can I Fully Open the Door for Human Use?
Yes! With the SmartSlydr smartphone app or voice commands, you can open the door or window to any width (maximum opening 45 inches) between 1% and 100% in 1% increments, allowing you to customize the opening size to fit your needs.
How Much Electricity Does SmartSlydr Use?
SmartSlydr consumes less than 1kW for the whole year, based on average daily usage. This totals less than 1 hour of air conditioner electricity consumption — every minute past that is pure savings if you're using SmartSlydr to let in fresh air!
Safety
Does SmartSlydr Have Safety Features?
Yes, SmartSlydr is designed with safety in mind, incorporating a safety feature similar to the anti-pinch mechanism found in car power windows.
If an object is pinched during door operation: the door will retract and attempt to close again. If the obstruction persists, the door will retract once more, remain open, and send a notification to your mobile app about the obstruction.
For a demonstration of this feature, check out our Safety Feature Video, where we use a banana as an example.

How Does SmartSlydr's Self-Locking Work?
SmartSlydr's internal mechanism acts as the lock — when the door closes, it's secured automatically, with nothing to press or remember. The door can't be pushed or slid open by hand from either side, and opens only via the app, a voice command, a remote, or an authorized PetPass tag. Unlike a flap door, there's no opening for a person or animal to force through.
From inside, the manual release cord lets you open the door by hand at any time, including during a power outage.
